The Digital Youth Consortium operates mostly within the Province of Rome. Our activity is fundamentally that of creating synergy between all those working in the youth education sector and in the world of ICT. We bring together schools, training centres, local authorities and ICT companies in order to identify and pursue common goals, such as a rapid diffusion of literacy for Roman youngsters. For this we study the development of opportunities for all our associates: we combine immediate business opportunities with longer term projects designed to help create opportunities for local economic development, and promote equal access to the opportunities offered by new technology.

Analysis
The Digital Youth Consortium is one of very few public/private partnerships in the world aimed at computer literacy and the inclusion of youngsters in society. Our educational activities are not commercial products, but a genuine service. This is what makes the difference between us and other organizations working in the educational services sector.
  • We work within an ethical framework, for a new educational revival.
  • Our combination of services and activities is unique.
  • We offer ourselves as a reference point for understanding the needs of youngsters and society.
Economics
Our finances are based initially on a membership fee paid by every associate or member. This is added to investments by founding companies and sponsors.
Currently, we can count on a capital of 671,934 Euro, which will allow us to start up the activity, and keep programmes going for two years. The City of Rome has around 900 state schools; the contribution of membership fees from all those who want to enter the Consortium will allow us to maintain and strengthen all our activities.

Developments
Our goal, during the first year, is to involve at least 100 schools in our projects. Their support will guarantee initial financial stability for the Consortium and its activities. To this we add our expertise in the promotion of innovative services. The originality and specificity of our projects will allow us access to various funds, including financing from Europe, in order to build more and more elaborate and complete ranges of activities.

Assessments
The Digital Youth Consortium will grow over time in proportion to its financial receipts. For our services we will apply a variable pricing policy according to the type of membership chosen.
